Roxie

James and I called back to the animal shelter on 20 November 2010 to keep updated whether anyone has brought either Koda or Damon in. We look through the 3 rooms full of enclosures with all the strays and shelter dogs to see if someone may have not recognized our two from the photos I gave and are on their bulletin board and they are there.

All the other times I have quickly walked through, this time James saw a large red Golden Retriever and I saw Roxie the German Shepherd/Alsatian/ mix whom caught my eye and I stopped and spoke with her while she was climbing up on the wire gate to get at me. We left this room and went to the next and as we were coming back down the hall past Roxie she saw me again as she was in the first enclosure to the hallway and jumped up at the glass.

We requested to take the Retriever and Roxie outside for a little walk...the rest I guess is history as she came home with us after we adopted her. She has been spayed and had all her vaccinations and up to date. Her collar and a lead was also part of her package. The shelter had a name tag machine so we paid to have a tag made for her with name and address

Roxie sat quietly on my knee the whole way home in the pickup and does not venture far from either James or I and keeps an eye on us where we are. She loves to snuggle and the first day two days she had first servings at the food bowl and growled when Tubby or Daisy came too close and they both stood back and let her eat, which I thought quite amusing. However after two days of this Daisy this morning (22 Nov) said 'enough' and took the lead from her for breakfast. The 3 of them get on really well and there have been no problems .

I have been more fearful and keep a closer watch on our furry children now since Koda and Damon went missing without warning and have not been seen. James and I are still actively searching for them and pray they will come back safely.

Right at home in on my knee.
