James Brothers - Shaver Boys

It was so nice to meet Brad and his son Liam on Tuesday 28 December for the first time. I had met Ed nearly 10 years ago when James and I were living in Oregon and he came to visit us from California on his way through on vacation in January. James and Ed had some precious moments flyfishing. I had to work.

It had also been nearly 2 decades that James (Jamey to his family) and Brad from Charlotte, NC had seen each other too.

This is quite amazing to me, as I was fortunate enough to grow up with my immediate family living in the same town and our extended family of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, in-laws etc all within driving distance.

When one relocates away from their home State and city in the USA it is a long way to drive/fly to visit and with most work places only giving one weeks vacation that is soon eaten up just traveling there and back leaving not much time to visit.

I reckon I was very fortunate to live in New Zealand and enjoy the luxury of not only have the minimum of 2 weeks paid holiday taken any time during the year, or even taking a few days/long weekend or all at once which ever I prefered but also the distances was not so great to travel to see anyone.

Taken outside after the 3rd snow fall this year, this one being over Christmas.

Such a shame about the shadows cast over their faces, I did not notice this when I took the digital photos as I could hardly see on the viewing screen anyway, due to the bright light and glare.
